The style and authentic character of the MINI Beachcomber Concept also stem from the fact that the mark has already been offered once the thrill of extreme pleasure of open-air driving with a conscious reduction to a minimum. Back in 1964, only five years after the launch of the classic Mini, the creator of the first model, the world-famous designer Alec Issigonis, had already developed a completely open version of this revolutionary little car.

The body of the Mini Moke, as it was called, consisted of little more than a platform, with wide side sills, a hood and a windshield. A folding roof served to protect - more or less - the driver and passengers from the rain.

With its robust design and propulsion technology derived from the Mini, this fun four-seater became a great success, especially in sunny regions of the USA and Australia. Production of the Mini Moke continued in Britain until 1968, for a total of about 14,500 units, after which the production was continued in Australia and Portugal.

The MINI Beachcomber Concept now projects the principle of the Mini Moke in the XXI century. The rustic look of the car and its strong concept of conscious reduction of body and interior components to a minimum clearly follow the tradition of the radically open Mini Moke sixties. This concept is further accentuated by the language of design strongly inspired by the Mini Moke and enhanced by various details such as the characteristic radiator grille.

It 's understood that the new model meets all modern requirements in terms of space and comfort, efficiency and safety, while maintaining its clear objective of providing driving pleasure in direct contact with nature.

Even four-wheel drive ALL4 is inspired by a model of the past, and more specifically to a prototype Mini Moke on which Alec Issigonis had two engines mounted in 1963. On this prototype, rightly called "Twini", the front and rear wheels were pushed by two four-cylinder engines, one for each axle, from the range of engines Mini.
