amarok 0002 300x212 Amarok...nuovi standard per la classe dei pick up medio grandi

With Amarok, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles entering the segment of medium-sized pick-up, representing a volume on an annual basis, approximately 2 million units worldwide.

The Amarok is not only the fourth model produced in series by the German manufacturer, is also the first pick-up in this segment developed in Germany, and combines the strength required for this type of vehicle to an innovative technology, high safety standards , high engine efficiency, comfort and ergonomics.

It will be assembled in the factory "Pacheco" near Buenos Aires, Argentina, where everything is ready to start production. Initially, the Amarok will be offered in four-door crew cab version, the version with a single cabin will be sold in the first half of 2011 . Conceptually and stylistically, the Amarok - maximum length of 5.25 meters - takes all the features of the new Volkswagen design that emphasizes the horizontal lines. The combination of the front headlight and grille in a single design element is the hallmark of the new Volkswagen design DNA. The slats of the grille and the profiles were drawn with meticulous attention to detail.

The powerful side, characterized by precise ribs, elements that move also to the bonnet, to give a stable, solid carved Amarok also reinforced by the prominent wheel arches.
The VW logo breaks the smooth surface of the door, between the rear lights, night design in which a strong distinguishing feature. Even in the bumpers, which fits perfectly to the structure of the medium, one can see the high standard stylistic dell'Amarok.

The Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has chosen for the launch of two new pick-up efficient and clean diesel. The 2.0 TDI 163 hp (engine that will be featured beginning to market in Italy), twin-turbo direct injection common rail, has a two-stage turbocharging, and generates a torque of 400 Nm at just 1500 rpm. A second 4-cylinder TDI with 122 hp, which features a variable geometry turbocharger and develops 340 Nm at 2000 rpm, will be presented during 2010 (in Italy will arrive in 2011). Both engines are mated to a six-speed manual transmission . In addition to the gloss and reactivity, these two thrusters are surprising for the extremely low power consumption representing a point of reference for the segment. For example, the Amarok 2.0 TDI 122 hp, with four-wheel drive, consumes just 7.6 l/100 km (199 g / km CO 2), while the 2.0 TDI 163 hp it requires 7.8 l/100 km ( 206 g / km). This is the first time a four-wheel drive vehicle in this class offers CO 2 emissions below 200 g / km. With 80 liters, the autonomy of the new pick-up exceeds 1,000 km. All versions dell'Amarok, finally, are equipped with a gearshift indicator which tells the driver how to maintain an economical driving style. The Amarok offers three different patterns of traction: permanent, full insertable and rear. In the version of access to the range, pulling it back. The two-wheel-drive versions are ideal for moving between asphalt and gravel roads. The Amarok to four-wheel drive is recognizable by the "4" in red on the nameplate on the door 4Motion. If the "4" is black, however, means that Amarok is equipped with permanent four wheel drive.

The four-wheel drive uses a classical solution and proven reliability in the pickup segment. A clutch, actuated by a button, rigidly coupling the transmission of motion between the two axes. To overcome the more difficult passages, such as a gradient of 100% at full load, is provided as standard for the gear change. The leaf springs to the progressive, specific for heavy loads, are very safe thanks to three main and two auxiliary supports.

The permanent four wheel drive version is a rarity in this class of vehicles. A Torsen differential provides to distribute torque between the axes with a ratio of 40:60 to ensure good driving dynamics and, at the same time, the maximum traction. In addition, targeted interventions allow the brakes to the wheel with the best grip always receive the greatest possible torque. In conjunction with this type of transmission, the chassis is tuned for maximum comfort. For the three types of transmission is available, on request, the locking rear differential. For the Amarok will be available in three different outfits.

That access to the range is designed for those who will use the vehicle strictly professional. The front bumper, door handles and mirror housings are painted to be less "vulnerable". Standard equipment includes alloy wheels 16 ", height-adjustable front seats, folding rear bench seat, glove box with lock and light cargo space. In the case of the richest Trendline version, the the front bumper, door handles and mirror housings are painted the same color as the body. The windows and mirror adjustment are electrical and the closure is centralized. This arrangement also provides radio with CD player, climate control (Climatic), multi-function display system, cruise control and fog lamps. The alloy wheels are 16 ". The exhibition is the most exclusive Highline version. Developed on the basis of the Trendline is enhanced by distinctive elements such as chrome mirror shells, various chrome trim both interior and exterior of the large wheel arches and body color that "host" alloy wheels 17 ". In addition, Amarok Highline is characterized by the automatic climate control (Climatronic), from leather trim, sound system, and the elegant high quality fabric seats (on request, be covered with leather). In addition to these features, the Amarok offers a wide range of accessories, hard top, the security system load Multi-Connect (standard from Trendline) to a range of alloy wheels including 18 "and 19". Also available on-roll bars and running boards. Key markets for the Amarok are the South American, South African and Australian, in these countries, the pick-up, thanks to their versatility, are the most popular both as fellow workers, both free time. The Amarok of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will be launched in South America early next year and will be marketed in Europe in the second half of 2010. In Italy will arrive at the end of 2010.
