SEAT presents the new versions of Ecomotive models Altea, Altea XL and Leon, three cars that give continuity to the offensive of the Spanish brand on the environment and that provide for significant innovations.
The new Altea and Altea XL models are added to the Ibiza, Leon and Alhambra Ecomotive cars already proposed version and offering lower emissions: the Ibiza Ecomovite with 98 g / km is the most ecological of its segment, then there are the Leon Ecomotive with 119 g / km and the Alhambra, which stood at just 159 g / km, a record in its segment.
The new range Altea and Leon Ecomotive is equipped with 105 hp 1.6 TDI engine with particulate filter (DPF) and common rail system and, compared to the model from which ensures reduced fuel consumption and emissions significantly.
The new Altea and Altea XL Ecomotive have emissions of just 119 g / km, while the new Leon Ecomotive emits currently only 99 g / km: the models are therefore more environmentally friendly in their segment, and also let you enjoy many tax advantages largely European countries. In Spain, for example, those who purchase Altea, Altea XL and Leon Ecomotive will not pay registration fees.
Overall, we obtained a reduction of 20 g / km compared to the versions that mount engine 1.9 TDI 105 bhp, mainly thanks to the implementation of the Start / Stop, the recovery function of energy and also the benefits of the 1.6 diesel engine with common rail direct injection.
The new range Ecomotive provides for the start / stop function that allows a considerable saving of fuel without any further action by the driver.
Indeed, when the driver arrives at a red light and stops the car, put the transmission into neutral and releases the clutch pedal, the device comes into operation Start / Stop automatically switches off the engine. When the driver presses the clutch again to engage the gears, the engine will start automatically.
The new Ecomotive models also offer the energy recovery system, whereby it is possible to recover energy from the alternator when you release the accelerator or when braking. This system allows for greatly reducing fuel consumption as the motor activity is reduced. Moreover, the 5-speed gearbox of the new ecological models SEAT has undergone several changes that impact on reducing levels of consumption, both in urban than in suburban.
The three SEAT cars provide the recommended gear indicator integrated in the instrument cluster, which suggests the most suitable gear depending on driving conditions.
The new Ecomotive range is equipped with an efficient exchange, such as the 105 hp 1.6 TDI engine with common rail system. With the introduction of this engine, the new Ecomotive SEAT cars can aspire to achieve exceptional performance, along with emissions and fuel consumption.
Altea and Altea XL Ecomotive is reached, in fact, the maximum speed of 183 km / h and go from 0 to 100 km / h in 12.2 and 12.4 seconds, covering the first thousand meters in 33.4 seconds (Altea) and in 34 seconds (Altea XL). As for the average fuel consumption in combined cycle, in both cases amounted to only 4.5 l/100 km.
The Leon Ecomotive model reaches a top speed of 188 km / h, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 11.7 seconds. Remarkable also the acceleration from 0 to 1,000 meters, which stood at 33.3 seconds. All this against an average fuel consumption of 3.8 liters per 100 km in combined cycle.
Moreover, the range includes Ecomotive DPF particulate filter as standard, which allows you to filter emissions of nitrogen oxide and other pollutants (soot particles) produced by all diesel engines. These contaminants, if not filtered, remain suspended in the air, attracting other harmful elements. Emissions from a diesel engine are composed to about 0.3% by gases such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and soot particles.
The engine control unit continuously monitors the conditions of the filter, activating the regeneration to remove accumulated soot particles. With this system, and the particulate filter therefore requires no maintenance for the life of the car.
The new range of SEAT Ecomotive is the leadership of environmentally friendly cars in their respective segments through various devices developed at the Technical Centre in Martorell, which not only allow a considerable reduction in fuel consumption, but also emissions of CO 2.
In this sense both the Leon and the Altea and Altea XL Ecomotive is equipped as standard with the new Start / Stop and energy recovery system, two elements that integrate seamlessly with the advantages of common rail system. Furthermore, as regards the Leon, there is provided a special aerodynamic package the effects of which, together with other solutions, allow the Spanish model to fall below the threshold of 100 g / km, placing the emissions of CO 2 to 99 g / km.
