BMW presents the future of driving pleasure. At the heart of the fair participation of BMW in the new Hall 11 at the International Motor Show (IAA) 2009 in Frankfurt, there are innovations to progressively reduce fuel consumption and emissions and simultaneously improve the driving dynamics. Thanks to BMW EfficientDynamics, during two generations of models, the most successful premium car manufacturer in the world in Europe has managed to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of its fleet by more than 25 percent and further enhance the driving pleasure. On the occasion of the IAA Motor Show, BMW has 15 to 27 September 2009 of new models and innovative concepts that create the conditions for realization of this development.
BMW Efficient Dynamics is already an integral part of every new BMW and is the basis for a series of innovations that will determine in the future of reduced emissions and increased driving pleasure. the concept study BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics is powered by a three-cylinder diesel engine and two electric motors under a concept fullhybrid. In his capacity as a plug-in car, the BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics is able to perform the drive cycle consumption measurement using only the electric motor. Considering the energy carriers used for the production of current (power consumption of the EU), we obtain a value of 50 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
Thanks to a particularly efficient form of energy recovery during braking, the electricity production takes place without affecting fuel consumption. The battery consists of 98 lithium-polymer cells. Autonomy in electric mode the car is about 50 km.
The aerodynamic system is developed using the know-how of the Formula 1. The drag coefficient cx was optimized to 0.22. The system uses the energy effi cient potential for fuel economy in all driving situations.
