Its world premiere at the recent Frankfurt Motor Show debut of the new Fiat Punto Evo, the evolution of the Grande Punto, which will confirm the success of its predecessor and, thanks to new features make it a point of reference in terms of innovation, safety and style.

The term "Evo" highlights, in fact, an automotive progress that will satisfy customers who are increasingly attentive to technological innovation, driving pleasure and environmental issues.

The technological excellence of Punto Evo is found primarily its extensive range of Euro 5 engines among which the 1.3 Multijet second generation and the 1.4 Multiair, the revolutionary technology developed by Fiat Powertrain Technologies and will be gradually adopted on all engines Fiat Group. These innovative engines and the more traditional power supplies are also added bi-fuel CNG and LPG to offer the absolute most comprehensive range of engines and ecological segment.

Always in the reduction of fuel consumption and emissions, the new model will offer the start-stop system - standard on all new Euro 5 petrol and diesel engines - which temporarily turns off the engine during stops.

Step inside the Evo debuts, also, the new infotainment system "Blue & Me-TomTom" that allows you to manage, from a practical color touch-screen, telephone, navigation and all the information needed to getting it directly from electronic edge.

In the security field Fiat Punto Evo also improves its standards through the adoption of 7 airbags, including one dedicated to the knee for the driver: it is one of the few cars in its segment to make it available as standard on all trim levels. They also have other useful features such as the Hill Holder system which assists the driver during hill starts (while braking the car for a few seconds so as to avoid backtracking), front fog lights with adaptive function "Cornering" that are activated automatically with the dipped beam according to the steering angle, in addition to consolidated systems ABS, EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution) and ESP (Electronic Stability Program).

The Fiat Punto Evo is even more beautiful thanks to the work of the Centro Stile Fiat, which has completely renovated the interior (dashboard, seats and instrumentation), making them even more rich and elegant and offers a new line with strong external cosmetic procedures.

The Fiat Punto Evo will be marketed in the second half of October and there is the clear objective to be confirmed among the leaders in Europe in the very important compact segment.

The international press launch of the Fiat Punto Evo was held aboard the aircraft carrier Cavour, the new flagship of the Navy, which represents the largest shipbuilding since World War II and the largest technology investment of National Defense. The program for its implementation, called "New Unit Maggiore (NUM)" and launched in November 2000, saw the adoption of cutting-edge design and construction methods and development of advanced systems by the Navy in synergy with Fincantieri and National Defense Industry. The result of this combined effort is today a highly prestigious international military system and the entire Italian industry.

In particular, the interior of the new car, completely redesigned, represent the ultimate expression of 'made in Italy "due to the quality of materials and attention to detail. First, a band, modeled on the console and air vents, creates the most emphasized element being covered with laminate materials that differ in color and texture depending on the outfit. Also the upper part of the dashboard is valuable thanks to an embossed surface that makes it more aesthetically pleasing to the sight and touch, and absolutely no reflections towards the passengers.

Between the upper zone and the front end, in front of the passenger, has been inserted a light source ("ambient light") which creates, during the night march, a diffused lighting effect and is particularly pleasant.

The new center stack of controls is split, with the form of "radio" features a shiny black surface, which is positioned at the center of the LCD. Below, in a separate panel, are placed the controls of air conditioning, while in the upper zone there are air vents with a storage compartment provided with the second composition, with a door that also fulfills the basic function for ' Installation of the "Blue & Me-TomTom".

The instrumentation provides driving larger dials for the speedometer and tachometer, with new graphics on a scale and a new visor lid separated from the volume of the dashboard.

Even outside the Fiat Punto Evo offers marked styling changes that have affected both the front or the rear side as shown by a new bumper that gives more value to the technical and functional areas: for example, the two air intakes collected in a single trapezoidal shape with two appendices which contain side turn signals while in the lower air intake is located the new circular fog lamps with cornering function. In addition, the front bumper distinguishes and differentiates the various versions: sports outfits have hexagonal mesh grille and a frieze on which burnished the Fiat logo is set; versions have the Comfort Line grille chrome horizontal grille and frieze. Other new features include headlamps, compared to the previous model, are now more marked and technicians, as well as offering the facility to daylight (DRL) on the sides and a different frame (blued Sport Line, Chrome Comfort line).

The rear features a new bumper that incorporates the plate, offering innovative lights, for the function of "position", a "light guide" perceptible at night with a curly shape that opens with the left tail light and closes with the right, framing ideally the car, the Fiat logo center that also serves to release the lock of the door, and point the new logo, stylized with the "dot" of different colors depending on the engine. Instead, stand on the side of the original side moldings that complement the new look of the front and back (in three-door version is embellished with a frieze showing the Chrome logo on the car). The technological excellence of Fiat Punto Evo is found first of its extensive range of engines, made ​​and produced by FPT - Fiat Powertrain Technologies, which can be fueled with petrol, petrol / LPG, gasoline / natural gas or diesel. In addition, the engines are available with either Euro 4 or Euro 5 level ecology (except the 1.2 petrol which will be available in Euro 5 from 2010). Among these include the new 1.4 Multijet and 1.3 Multiair second-generation Euro 5 compliant and equipped with all the standard start-stop system.

Therefore, Point Evo marks another step along the road to sustainable mobility and anticipated the EEC legislation that will include the requirement of compliance with the Euro 5 only from 1 January 2011 for new registrations.

Depending on the engines, there are changes to 5 or 6-speed, mechanical or robotic sequential (Dualogic) that have been suitably optimized to provide excellent handling and a large noise.

1.2 8v 65 bhp (Euro 4);

1.4 8v, 77 bhp (Euro 4);

1.4 8v, 77 bhp (Euro 5) with Start &Stop;

Multiair 1.4 16v 105 bhp (Euro 5) with Start &Stop;

Multiair 1.4 16v Turbo 135 HP (Euro 5) with Start & Stop.

Diesel:

1.3 16v MultiJet 75 bhp (Euro 4);

II 1.3 Multijet 16v, 75 bhp (Euro 5) with Start & Stop and DPF;

1.3 Multijet 16v 90 hp (Euro 4);

II 1.3 Multijet 16v, 95 bhp (Euro 5) with Start & Stop and DPF;

1.6 Multijet 16v 120 bhp (Euro 5) DPF;

Bi-fuel:

70 bhp 1.4 8v petrol / methane (Euro 5);

77 bhp 1.4 8v petrol / LPG (Euro 4).

To identify the different engine logo on the tailgate of the change point Ages: indeed, the point is colored red for the most performance engines (1.4 Multiair Turbo 135 bhp and 1.6 Multijet 120 bhp) and is green for power and bi-fuel black for the other engines.
